RIB Expedition: Seiland Natl Park
Tour Overview
You cross Altafjord by RIB boat to Seiland, an island where Scandinavia's northernmost glaciers sit above mountains that drop straight into the sea. The boat trip takes about an hour, past steep coastal mountains.
We go ashore in Bekkarfjord. Here a rare ultrabasic bedrock supports lush meadows of Arctic wildflowers, something you rarely see this far north. The glaciers lie above you, and sea eagles soar over the sun-warmed cliffs. Look out for curious seals by the boat and birds of prey along the steep coast. Seiland is only reachable by sea, and the trip back across the fjord gives you time to take it all in.
